Life in the Scenic River City

Living on the banks of the Tennessee River, a major inland transportation tributary,  often provides for unexpected opportunities.  For the next couple of weeks replicas of the Columbus ships Nina and Pinta will be docked at the Chattanooga Riverfront.

These ships were hand built without the use of power tools.  Both were built in Valenca, Brazil by American and British interests.

Booth Western Art Museum

On the way home from a brief Florida fall break I had the privilege to stop at the Booth Museum of Western Art in Cartersville, GA.  As advertised you can truly experience the American West without leaving the South.

A sample from my experience includes paintings, sculpture and interactive media.  There are numerous historical artifacts displayed from the Civil War era.

If you are traveling to Atlanta it is well worth the short drive north of downtown.

This weekend Booth will host the 8th Annual Southeastern Cowboy Festival and Symposium.
