Today Catherine and I decided to start the year off with a fishing adventure. I had been curious about a little lake that I passed everyday on my way to work. After a few google searches it turns out this small reservoir, Lake Junior, located adjacent to Chickamauga Lake is a public area owned by the State of Tennessee. Another surprise came when I discovered it had been stocked with trout a couple of weeks ago as part of the TWRA trout stocking program. After scrambling to get my gear together Catherine and I drove the three miles to find a number of anglers were already camped around the perimeter.
Try as we might the trout did not seem to care for our hastily gathered offerings. It appeared non of the other fishermen were catching any fish. After a few casts and lots of waiting we decided to pack up the gear and head home.
Although no trout for supper tonight I am pleased with my new found fishing hole. I am sure it will provide many adventures later this winter and into spring.
Fishing thought for the day:
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day. ~Author Unknown
